Around JCPS Schools

We had many readers into school today from parents, to board members, politicians, and community helpers! Mrs. Jayanand, our parent of the year '24, came in to read to her daughter's second grade class!

PreK Registration Information

Our fifth graders, led by our music teacher Peter Bellomo celebrated Black History Month with poems, songs, and performances.

Mike Dawson is the author of numerous graphic novels and cartoon essays, written for both children and adults. His works include the Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selected books for middle-grade readers, The Fifth Quarter and The Fifth Quarter: Hard Court.

The Jersey City Free Public Library (JCFPL) offers a free 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge: Read 1,000 books before kindergarten with your child. Receive a prize from the library for every 100 books read. The goal is to read 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten.

Time Change

Teaching Artist Gem Mercado developed a terrific lesson based on the works of Charles Schulz and how his drawings and messages offered inspiration to many children (and adults) who read his comics. His book certainly inspired me to hug dogs - lots of dogs!
